Orange Coast College
Honkawa Rocketry is partnered with SARTEC and Orange Coast College to establish a purpose-built Liquid Rocket Propulsion Program. The new Rocketry Science program joins Aviation Science as part of Aviation and Aerospace Sciences.
Rocketry Science is so named because it encompasses all aspects of rocket and spacecraft design and operation, not just engineering. The new courses are designed to introduce students to concepts that can supplement an education in engineering, management, or technical trades.

Rockets and Space Technology
This course is designed to introduce students to a broad scope of concepts in rocket propulsion and launch/space vehicle design. Students will learn about rockets of all kinds and how they work, from compact solid motors to towering heavy lift vehicles, from the ground up to outer space. Lessons and coursework are designed to focus on concepts and qualitative problem solving.

Liquid Propulsion Systems
Students undertaking this course will apply their design and critical thinking skills towards the comprehensive design, fabrication, and operation of liquid propellant aerospace and rocket systems. Students can expect to acquire hands-on technical skills with which to strengthen their engineering or technical education. Rocket launches and handling are supervised by state licensed professionals and attendance off-campus is optional.
